Tales Of Pete: The Halloween Gathering
I want to take a break from describing our experiences on the road. With it being October, I think something Halloween-related is appropriate. Believe it or not, it’s a pretty big deal in our town. Now, I know what some of you may be thinking.
Pete, haven’t you said there are a bunch of monsters and shit roaming around your town at night? Wouldn’t trick or treaters be like a walking buffet to them? Both are valid questions. To answer them, we do things a bit differently. We have celebrations at our town rec center.
It’s plenty big, enough to accommodate a sizable party. People and their families dressed up will go there to celebrate All Hallow’s Eve. There are games, rides, moon bounce castles, and of course, candy. Some of the town’s police are stationed outside in case of children wandering outside or something similar occurring. Getting to it is easy enough provided you do it during the day.
Yes, overall it’s pretty fun. At least, most of the time. Unfortunately, though, sometimes things just go wrong. On one particular Halloween did things from fun to downright frightening in our town. The last time it happened before that was over a hundred years ago. The time I’m referring to was when I was still in my freshman year of high school.
